The first house of Vedic astrology or what is commonly known as the ascendant (Lagna) signifies the native, his general appearance, character and temperament. It shows his physical stature, co lour, form and shape and constitution in general. The ascendant is always an important factor in the matter lf the planets throwing the bad aspect. It also indicates the native’s vitality and vigor, his peculiar habit of thinking, his natural disposition and tendencies, the native’s personality and struggle for life, his fortune or misfortune, etc. One should examine the 1st, 3rd and 8th houses to ascertain the probable span of one’s life also describes the nation in life general can dour (Status), honors, dignity and general well-being. Therefore one should examine this house before one predict whether the native will live in his own place or will make fortune is a far-off place. In short, this house this is the significator of any changes in the individual’s life. Hence this is of supreme importance. All depend upon the occupant and aspects to Asc. The 1st house governs head and the upper part of the face.In Mundane Ascendant of a country or general state of the locality or the State for which the horoscope id cast.In Horary Astrology, the first house may be said to symbolize the person asking the question.

If Saturn is in lagna especially with malefic Kethu or Rahu, than the native will be lazy; (the wife will have abortive tendencies); if Mars and Mercury are there then he will be ever active. Kalidasa adds that tendency to insult other men, freedom from disease, perseverance in the breeding of cattle (lord of 6 in the lagna or connected with the lord of lagna), loss of decorum and blame from one’s castemen are all to be predicted from the first house.

The Origination of Indian Astrology

November 20, 2008

India has always been known as a country with unity in diversity, a country that one of the most extravagant history and definitely for being a country with lots of knowledge and heritage. Indian astrology and Indian astrologers along with Indian pilgrimage locations have tremendous influence on people in India and worldwide. Indian astrology is more famously known as Jyotish or Jyotisa. These words have been derived from the Sanskrit term from jyótis, which means light, heavenly body. Astrology is known to have tremendous affect on people all around the globe. In fact, the advent of science has also not been able to demean the position of astrology and astrologers. Different countries have different methods of astrology but the main point about astrology is to have faith in it. One needs to have faith in the concept of astrology to witness the miracles of it.

Indian astrology is also referred to as Vedic astrology. The Vedic system of astrology is one of the six disciplines of Vedanga, which are the secondary disciplines of Vedic religion. As such, Jyotish has historically been part of a continuous holistic approach to living and an integral practice based on the ancient spiritual tradition of India. The foundation of jyotish or Indian astrology is the notion of the various bandhu of the Vedas or scriptures, which is the connection between the microcosm and the macrocosm. Its main purpose is to offer humanity a means to understand the role and expression of karma in individual and collective life. In fact, a major belief among Hindus is that humans have fortune and misfortune in life because of the kind of karma or in other words, deeds that they do in their present lives. Many use Jyotish to understand the various setbacks in life due to the influence of planets and thereby, perform different religious ceremonies to mitigate or avoid the pain of separation in life.

The practice of Indian astrology has been done for over hundreds of years. In fact, the very history of India shows the various involvements of Vedic astrology and how people tend to believe in it and how they led their lives as directed by astrologers. In fact, the very practice of Vedic astrology primarily relies on the visible zodiacs, which is highly different from the tropical zodiacs that are used in Western astrology in that an ayanamsa adjustment is made for the gradual precession of the vernal equinox. The zodiacs that are used in Vedic or Indian astrology are used to compute the ascendant, although the end results are converted to sidereal ascendants.

Vedic astrology or in other words, Indian astrology includes more than a few fine distinct sub-systems of interpretation and prediction with unique sacred elements that are just not found in Western astrology, for example its specific system of lunar mansions that are called the nakshatras, encompassing a pantheon of archetypal deities. An astrologer studies and understands the positions of these nakshatras and then they select auspicious days for several ceremonies. Indian astrology, just like the history and the richness of the Indian heritage, proves to be quite rich and full of mystery.

Sun the father

October 29, 2008

Astronomy: sun is the parent of the entire solar system. It is also called the ‘Fathers’. Of the stars’. It is the nearest star to the earth and is about 93 million miles away from our mother earth. And is about 93 million miles away from our mother earth. It is the largest among the planets, belonging to the solar system. It is nearly 750 times larger larger than all the planets put together. Its diameter is about 110 times that of the earth and is nearly 27, 19,000 miles in circumference.

Scientists say that it is not a solid mass, but they are of the opinion that it is composed of gaseous matter in a series of layers which send out cool and positive magnetic rays which meet one of the negative quality on earth, so that heat and light, both are developed. The waves affect likewise all other planets belonging to the solar system. The intensity varies and it depends on many factors.

Mythology: being the centre of all life, force and energy and energy and the giver of prana, sun is worshipped as sun Good. It is held in high esteem. at least thrice daily, sun is prayed for by the Hindus. Every Sunday ‘SURYA-NAMASKARAM’ is done by many persons to regain the lost vitality and eye-sight. Other nations also pay reverence to sun. It is said to represent the creator, the Brahma, with his four faces to have a survey of all the four direction causing four directions causing four seasons and the four elements, namely, fire, Barth, air and water, Sundays (otherwise called Sabbath him. Sunday is also put at the head of all the seven days of the week.

Westerners call the sun, Apollo. They consider the sun is the son of Jupiter and latona. Apollo is the brother of Diana. He is adored by the Greeks. The swan and the raven are said to be Apollo’s birds.

Hindus have conceived the sun as ever moving in a chariot drawn by seven horses. This is probably in the sun are contained all the seven colors of the solar spectrum (VIBGYOR). They say that sun goes round the mount mere daily. Whenever sun enters into certain significant signs, the Hindus perform some religious function on those days to satisfy the departed soul and also offer prayers to sun god. One witch occasion is at the time when sun crosses the fixed Nirayana vernal equinox and enters Aries is that the people in the North Pole could see him after a continuous night extending to six months. This is called vishu or Tamil New Year’s Day. The nest occasion is on or around July 17 when sun reaches the northernmost declination (twenty) three degrees twenty seven minutes from the celestial equator) and deigns its southern course. It is called dakshinayana. The nest occasion when they perform the religious rites falls when sun during its southern course reaches the Autumnal Equinox which is the beginning of Libra or thulam. Three months later, when sun reaches the southernmost declination in the south and just when he commences the northern celebrate this day. It is called sankaranthi. Thus the sun has come to occupy an important place in the Hindu pantheon. The greatest astrologer varahamihira worshipped only sun God and shed an imperishable luster among the nine gems in the court of king vikramadithya.

The sun takes exactly one year to go round the ecliptic. It has only the direct motion, never does it retrograde. Also there is no latitude to sun.

Sun stands to us as a symbol of spirit. Hindus consider that sun is the soul of kalapurusha. (The moon is his mind; Budha or Mercuty his speech; Kuja or mars his strength ; Jupiter or Guru his knowledge and happeiness, Venus or sukra his desire or just ; satura is his misety; etc it is said that the seceral constituents of Klalpurusha are either strong or weak according to the strength of the planets representing them. Only Saturn is exempted. Whenever Saturn is weak, misery will be much greater and will predominate. But if Saturn is strong there will be less of misery. All effete effects are felt only in their respective periods.)for all living beings, sun represents the positive and primal fount whereas moon represents the negative influence. Sun is constructive and creative while moon is preserving and formative. Sun is the father and moon is the mother. Therefore sun is the symbol of spirit and moon is that of matter, both acting 12 signs are in their nature alternatively positive and negative or masculine and feminine.

The sun and moon are considered to the sovereign. Whereas guru or Jupiter and sukra or venus arre the counselors or ministers. Budha or mercury is their fear or the young priuce, Kuja or mars is the commander-inchief and satyrn or sani is the slave or the servant. Sun is the king and moon is the qyeen. Venus is considered to be the wife of Jupiter and the adiciser.
